About the Film
A train driver travels through Europe in search of the ‘murderer’ of the night train, once the symbol of international travel. He suspects train operators, governments, the EU and lobbyists, but in the dim institutional backrooms everyone points at one another, while the chaos on the tracks remains. How is it possible that we can fly from Amsterdam to Rome for twenty euros, while the same journey by train costs around three hundred euros? It’s no wonder that everyone continues to fly. But what is the root of this price difference and why have we neglected the train, once the icon of international travel? Can’t we do better, or don’t we want to do better? These questions formed the starting point for the idea behind ‘Attention Please’.
Impact
With Attention Please we want to change the political narrative and horizon with regards to continental travel. Attention Please directly addresses all people who are involved in the European railway: Train companies, carriers, rail managers, politicians, members of the European Parliament, travel organizations, and train lobbyists. Attention Please makes the wider, at this moment indifferent, society aware of the flaws made by key train players and opens up the debate on how to improve the current railway in Europe.
